You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have the FXA.
We have lots to report this time, so lets get down to it...
THE GOOD
The new record is done! It is going out to the plant to be pressed this week and will be released on June 4th. We are all really pretty damn proud. The songs are good, the recording is good, the mix is good, the mastering is top notch and the artwork is good. All that sucks is my guitar playing, but we're all used to that by now.
"June 4th, isn't that a Saturday?" you ask. Well yes, yes it is. We are breaking with the industry standard of releasing records on Tuesdays and are bringing you this fine piece of wax on a Saturday. A Saturday night to be more precise. A Saturday night headlining the Paradise, Boston's premiere rock club to be even more precise. Getting this gig is a pretty big achievement for us, and releasing the record at the show is just the icing on the cake.
Actually, releasing the record is more like the cake's sweet creamy filling. The icing is the fact that this show is being recorded for release as a live record, and through the technology of Instant Live Recording you will be able to get it right after the gig. So, in reality, June 4th is our record release show for our TWO new records. Damn.
THE BAD
You knew it was coming - the bad. Well...let's not call it bad, let's call it the bittersweet. That Saturday night at the Paradise will be Fooled By April's last show.
After four years of great friendship, great touring, great stories and hopefully some good music, it is sadly time to hang it up. Our lives are all taking us in different directions and unfortunately it is the band that has to suffer for it.
As disappointing and heartbreaking as it is for us to leave Fooled By April, we're all excited to go out on top, with a new record we're really proud of to be released at a great venue.
You guys are going to be sorely missed. You've been our brothers in rock for many years, you've been an inspiration and a motivation, and even when you fucked with my favorite songs, your stuff was still some of the best out there.
I think I speak for the whole band when I say that we're honored to be playing your final show with you.
I kind of don't know what to say. I'm so proud to have been involved, in the sometimes small and sometimes big ways that band girlfriends are, with this band. Sometimes when I am at shows and jumping around and dancing my face off, I think to myself, "Wait a minute. How am I still so excited by these songs that I have been listening to ad nauseum for four years?" And the answer to that is, I have no fucking idea. But's true - you all keep playing stuff and I keep dancing my face off, and it's not just because I'm sleeping with the guitar player. I'll miss this part of my life. A lot.
One of the first things I did after moving back to Boston was go to see FxA at a benefit show with my college friend Kristine. It was a revelation. I always felt so priveleged to disccover the band so early in their career. I was treated to many great concerts and such. Whether it was at the Lizard or TOAD, I treid to see ya'll every chance I got. Your music always made me feel good. Even when you stopped playing Glad Girls I still loved you. One of my favorite memories is being invited up on stage(along with the rest of the Lizard Lounge audience) by Gordon to sing along with High and Dry. Boston really missed the boat on this one. When I see thwe suck-ass bands getting attention these days, it makes me sick. FxA had talent and originality up the butt and to boot, you are all such nice guys. Please keep us up to date on any other musical projects and the eventual reunion tour when we'er all old and grey and it's too late for anything. You break my heart.
first you make the tantalizing promise that you guys are better than motley crue live... then you say i only have one more chance to either confirm or deny this allegation?
you bastard.
it was awesome playing with / seeing you guys over the years... we'll miss y'all.
